The trip had been a long and tiring one, especially given the hours and the fact that it was well past her bedtime. Still, Lexi found comfort at Laz' side, simply enjoying the man's company. The daunting hours had been spent engaged in small talk and listening to the radio... and oh, how she longed to snuggle up against him, but feared interfering with his driving so she kept physical contact with her hand resting atop his leg.


Honestly, it scared her just how much she had fallen for this guy. After Gabriel, her heart had been so guarded and she swore to never fall again, but then he came along. There was something just so pure and honest about Lazarus that she couldn't help it. He had torn down her barrier and made her experience feelings that she was determined to never feel again. He was just.. perfect. And she was madly, deeply in love with him. Though, she wondered if he felt the same. He had yet to say the 'L' word so that made her worry...


Perhaps it was too soon for him. Maybe she shouldn't have had sex with him just yet. She should have been smart and waited until she knew his feelings. But could she really do that to herself? The love-making had been amazing and needed, and it rekindled extinguished hope.



Now there was the case of Ezekiel's disapproval. Though she wanted it, Lexi knew that she could live without it. Though, she knew the gang leader could make her life a living hell if he chose to stoop to that level. Unfortunately the young woman was oblivious to Hun's orders...


Finally, the cabin came into view and a smile slowly crept across Lexi's tired features. She gave Laz' arm a gentle squeeze and leaned in to kiss him, excited about their little 'vacation'. It would be her first time out of the fast pace existence of city life. Though, she wondered if Hun and her job at the club would allow her time to go interrupted. She would have to give the bar owner a call later on. Surely they could allow her the time needed to see her ex through his most painful period of his recovery.

Indeed, the trip was long and tiring and every bump excruciating. Gabe had taken another dose of pain killers to help him through it, though nothing seemed enough. Hearing his little 'niece's' concerns, Gabe gave her a reassuring smile and he helped her into his lap, giving her a comforting hug. Honestly, he wasn't sure what his fate would be, or if he would ever be normal or okay again... but her innocence didn't need to be shattered by his fears. She needed to hear that everything would be fine, even it was nothing more than a little white lie...


"Aw, and you'll be the best helper ever." He told the young girl as he gently squeezed her. "But I'm gonna be okay, sweetie." He tried to assure her, giving another gentle hug.

An hour into the trip, Gabe couldn't hold out any longer. The injured thug finally lost the battle with heavy eyelids and finally they slid closed. It didn't take long for him to drift off to sleep, Isabella still cuddled in his arms. He was unaware when thy finally arrived at their destination.

For Laz, the drive was fun! Listening to the radio was cool because he got to learn what kind of music Lexi was into, turns out they had the same taste in music. and the light conversation was nice too. plus, he had never been into the county before so it was an adventure to him!

Part of him was worried about Mikko though. He knew that she could handle herself, but she didn't always make the best choices. Honestly, he hoped that she didn't kill this Spike guy. Though it seemed that no one would care if she did. But murder would put her in prison, and she didn't have the foot to bail her out this time.

Soon the cabin came into view. after Ezekiel parked, Laz parked next to him. He got out the car and ran around to open Lexi's door for her.

This place looks pretty nice.

In the van with Ezekiel things were pretty quite. He smiled hearing Bella and Gabe talk. Mama was singing to the gospel songs on the radio and Eze was just in his own little world.

Soon the cabin came up and he parked the van.

Ok everyone, we're here. best to grab a bedroom while you can. He helped Bella and Mama out the van then went to wake Gabe.

There's four bedrooms, two baths., the shed is nice too, it could be turned into a room if need be. There's a pond behind the trees and across the street is a llama farm. all ten acres of land to play on.

Lexi smiled when Laz rushed around just to open the door for her. She pecked his cheek and winked at him, appreciating all of the sweet gestures that he did for her. "Heh, you're spoiling me.." She told him. "You keep reminding me that chivalry isn't dead."


She listened as Eze announced all that the cabin had to offer, and she wondered how the gang leader had come to own such a piece of property, but she decided not to ask. Surely he had purchased it as a fall back spot, and that's exactly what they were doing. It was nice, and the pure morning air, untainted by the city's smog was refreshing.


Four bedrooms, that was plenty of space for everyone, but Lexi was always one to plan ahead and think things out. Given Gabriel's situation.. it seemed that she and Laz would most likely be the only two sexually active, but there was a small child present. Her eyes traveled toward the barn and it was even more appealing since Eze had informed them that it could be used as an additional room.


"Laz and I can take the barn.." She announced, blushing slightly as she gave her boyfriend's hand a squeeze. Surely Eze would figure it out. And once again she looked at Laz. "Sound good? We can go scope it out once we get Gabriel inside..."

Hearing that Lexi wanted the barn was a bit confusing at first, why would she want to be so far from the others? But then it hit him and he smiled.

The barn is perfect. Lets get the boy inside and to bed. He said, meaning Gabe. He walked over to the van and seen that gabe was asleep. that was probably for the best, the ride couldn't have been pleasent for him.

Laz pulled the wheel chair out of the back of the van and set it up then waited for Eze to wake him.

Whew. At least it seemed that Laz was on the same page, though she had caught his initial look of confusion that lasted the course of a few seconds. While Laz grabbed the wheelchair, Lexi grabbed as many bags as she could carry and peeped in while they waited for Eze to do the dirty job of waking Gabriel. Her heart melted seeing him snuggled up with Isabella. He had always been so good with her, it made Lexi hope that someday her ex would give up his wild ways and settle down.. have a couple of kids of his own. Despite his self doubt, Lexi thought he would be an incredible father despite having a good role model of his own. Eze and Dee had been the closest thing he had ever known to a real 'dad'.


Dee. Lexi briefly wondered what had happened to the guy.. it had been forever.....

Eze gave Gabe's shoulder a little shake. and, wanting to help. Bella patted Gabe's face.

Wake up uncle Gabe! We home! Lets go play with da llamas!

Ezekiel grabbed the little girl and set her outside the van with Mama.

You can play with them later. first we have to get sleeping beauty inside.

Amazing, merciful sleep. And like everything completely awesome, it had to come to an end, much too soon. Gabe was brought back to his reality by the combined efforts of the Blats, one shaking his shoulder and the other patting his cheek. The thug's eyes fluttered and squinted, wishing that he could bury his face and simply protest, especially when he was met with such discomfort and pain, but seeing Isabella so close to him caused him to muffle the initial hiss of torment. It sucked. If he had to be paralyzed, then why did he have to feel anything?


Deep down, he knew he was fortunate to be able to feel at all. Had it been a neck injury... he shuddered to think. Forcing a smile to keep his favorite little person from worrying, Gabe ruffled the little one's hair as he painfully pushed himself up and began scooting towards the van's exit, silently thankful that his weight lifting kept his arms in tip top shape...


"Llamas, huh... aren't those the horses that spit tobacco in yer eyes?"  


And looking around, he quickly noticed that Mikko wasn't with them. Normally she would show up later than them since she and Tiph were collecting things, but it made him worry no less...


"No word from Mikko or Tiph?"

Mikko and Tiphanny quickly walked to tiph's place. Mikko was a little excited to see just how bad this Spike guy was, she hoped that he tried something with her, she needed a reason to kick someone's ass.

Soon they got to the small apartment and Tiphanny lead her inside.

There, Mikko seen two men, she was about to ask which one was Spike but she figured it out as soon as he opened his mouth.

Where the fuck did you go!? Who the fuck is that bitch!? What the fuck are you doing!?

Tiph looked at Mikko and rolled her eyes.

That's Mikko, Gabe's girl. We're leaving town until things calm down I just have to get some things. you guys can stay here for the time if you want.

Mikko watched as Tiph vanished in her bedroom and she folded her arms looking at the two boys. Jack just shrugged and went to the kitchen to see if there was beer, Spike on the other hand was more interested in the new girl, Gabe's girl. He walked forward towards Mikko, the woman didn't move but watched him closely.

So you hooked up with that fag uh? Hows about I show you what a real man can do. And without waiting for an answer spike did what Mikko had hoped for, he grabbed her.

Mikko reacted, punching spike in the face cracking his nose. She then swept his feet from under him and grabbed his arm, pinning him to the floor in an uncomfortable position.

Doesn't look like you can do much.

Now pissed. Spike tried to push himself up. He screamed curses and threats at her which only caused Mikko to laugh. Finally he called for Jack to help. Jack wanted nothing to do with any of what was going on and just sat at the kitchen table and watched.

Finally Mikko let Spike up. and as soon as he was on his feet again, he grabbed a letter opener that was on the coffee table and went after Mikko again.

She dodged the blade and grabbing his armed hand, knocked the weapons away then, flipped him over onto his back.

Not knowing when to back down, Spike got back up, nose bleeding and arm hurting. he rushed at her. Mikko fell on her back and kicked up at Spike's middle sending him flying into the wall.she then hopped up and looked at him just as Tiph was coming back out.

We're coming with you! I'm not stay in the city with all this fucked up shit going on. Spike spat as he wiped his nose.

You can't come with us. sorry. Tiph motioned to Mikko that she was ready and the two of them walked out the apartment with Spike close behind. Mikko turned at him and bucked up at him causing spike to flinch. She laughed at him and closed the door in a fuming Spike's face.

That was fun. I like him. he's easy to get riled up.

The rest of the walk was in quiet. Mikko didn't know if it was because she beat up Tiph's friend or not, though she didn't know why Tiph called Spike a friend. But they soon got to Mikko's garage and slipped the tarp off the green and black stripped race car.

The doors opened upward and the inside was black leather with lime green pipping.

Tiph tossed her bags in the back and then got in the car. Mikko slipped in the drivers seat and soon they were following Eze's map to the cabin.

They finally had some light conversation and listened to the radio then they got on the long stretch of empty road. Mikko looked at Tiph and grinned.

What?

Hold on!

To what!? why?

Mikko shifted gears and stepped on the gas.

What should have taken hours didn't seem so long with Mikko's driving. And just as Gabe asked his question Mikko and Tiph came racing down the street. She pulled in and came to a stop. Tiph quickly got out and threw up on the ground.

Mikko got out the car and took a deep breath. Did we miss anything?

Lexi was just about to answer Gabriel about the llamas, but then a sports car came speeding in and the moment it was parked, Tiph hopped out and lost her stomach's contents. The scene was both confusing, and a huge relief. At least both women had made it back uninjured and seeing the relief on Gabe's face made Lexi feel a lot better.


"Glad you two are okay.." Lexi told them, wondering if she should go see about Tiph... but would wait until she was finished puking. And she looked at Gabe as Laz and Eze prepared to move him. "See? Told you they would be okay.."

Mikko ran up to Gabe and smothered his face with kisses. Missed me?

Tiph got herself together and grabbed her bags. She's crazy! She almost got us killed!

That cow came out of nowhere.

You shouldn't have been going 180!

I dodged the cow didn't I? we're fine.

I need to lie down.

Indeed, Gabe was relieved that Mikko and Tiph had both made it back safely. He gave Mikko a gentle squeeze and a soft kiss against the lips, only just quirking his brow over the talk about a cow. They were kidding, right?


Sliding even closer of the edge of the van, he inwardly cursed himself for not being able to just climb out like everyone else. It sucked, never realizing how thankful he was to be able to walk until that ability was taken away from him...

Mikko held the chair steady while Eze helped Gabe out. Mikko felt so bad for Gabe! He was like this because of her. At least she thought so. But she didn't show that she felt bad, or guilt. He was alive and that's what was important.

Once he was in the chair she unlocked the wheels and spun him around.

You will be happy to know, I kicked Spike's ass. Think I broke his nose.

Bella climbed in Gabe's lap and was ready for a little ride!

We need to put some rockets on this thing. hold on!

With that she grabbed the handles of the wheel chair and sprinted to the cabin with the two.

Ezekiel watched Mikko take off with Gabe and his daughter and shook his head.

I don't know if that woman is going to kill him, or actually be good for him.

He took the bags out of the van, there wasn't many sense most of the stuff got packed into Lexi's car. He then headed to the cabin, motioning the others to follow him. Once at the front door he unlocked it and turned on the lights.

The cabin had a real rustic feel to it. All wooden floors and of course the logs that made up the walls. There was a black leather couch the Chucky claimed as soon as the pup got inside. and a cow skin rug under a wooden coffee table.

There was lamps that were made of deer antlers sitting on end tables in the living room. Next to that was the kitchen. A gas fire stove and small fridge was surrounded by oak cabinets. And lots of counter space to work with.

Each bedroom had a bed and small night stand along with a small closet.

The bathroom was also small but fit a good size shower/bath. Upstairs was the attic, but nothing was up there. In fact it could have doubled for another room if need be.

there was no dinning room, no kitchen table. and it lacked chairs other then the one couch. But he was sure they would make due.

Laz was also glad to see the two girls back in one piece, not that he didn't think Mikko could handle herself. But now that everyone was safe and out of the city, he felt he could finally take a breath. He grabbed Some of the bags and looked at Lexi then nodded to Bella and Gabe.

You know what Bella needs? He asked Lexi then leaned close to her ear and whispered.

Another kid to play with. He then straighten up and gave Lexi's back side a pat with his free hand.

Maybe we can work on that tonight.

Grabbing what bags she could, Lexi smiled at Isabella and Gabe, relieved to hear that Ezekiel may actually be considering that Mikko was good medicine for him. Maybe, just maybe Hun's right hand man would warm up to the two ex Foot members, because it certainly seemed like they were here to stay. Laz brought much needed happiness and comfort into her life, and she knew Mikko did the same for Gabe. Of course, she was inadvertently responsible for Gabe's predicament, but the woman was doing the right thing and sticking by his side.



Laz' whispers sent a shiver up her spine and threatened to awaken her need. Still, she tried to hold her composure, for now. A soft moan in response and she gazed up at him, hope sparkling in her eyes. "Kids, huh?" And she hoped he was serious and not just using it as an excuse to have lots of passionate sex. Of course, she would have done that anyway, because she loved him and enjoyed it- it was just nice to think that he wanted something more with her. "I can't wait." She whispered back, flashing a wink as she pressed a kiss against his cheek.


Soon they were inside the cabin and Lexi was completely awestruck. Being a girl from the city, she had always dreamed of a place like this. It was so beautiful and humble, and it briefly made her reconsider her earlier comment about staying in the barn... but it was for the best. Eze still wasn't fond of Laz and she knew their closeness would get under Ezekiel's skin.


"It's beautiful, Eze." She complimented, placing the bags on the couch. She would have unpacked Gabe's things for him, but didn't want to intrude. Surely Mikko would want to take care of him, and it would probably be a joint decision between the two as to what room they picked.


Now that they had assisted as much as they could, she looked at Laz, wrapping her slender arms around his neck and nuzzled his cheek. "Are you sleepy? Or, are you up for a little exploring?"

I'm up for some exploring. Maybe we can ride the llamas! Laz took Lexi's hand and headed back out the cabin. He took in a deep breath of fresh air and wrapped an arm around her.

Wanna check out the barn first? Then we can take a walk through the woods maybe.

It embarrassed Gabriel to no end each and every time someone had to assist him, but the injured thug tried not to let it show. Soon he was in the chair and Isabella climbed into his lap, and away they went! Being an adrenalin junkie and loving speed, he didn't mind the pace that Mikko was going, but he held to Bella, insuring that she didn't fall off.


Hearing that Mikko had beaten Spike up earned a quit chuckle. "That's my girl."


Soon they were inside and Gabe couldn't believe his eyes. The place looked like something out of one of those old farmy-type movies. "You been holdin' out, Zekie.." He bro had vaguely mentioned it before, but they never had a real need for a fall back spot.. until now....


...so what was the real danger??

Lexi was excited that Laz was up for checking the place out. The couple stepped outside, met with the welcoming fresh breeze that both inhaled into their lungs. A smile stretched across Lexi's face as she savored its purity. No pollution or smoke or noises of overpopulation and cars and machinery. No busy streets to cause anxiety. Only peace and comfort.


Squeezing his hand, her eyes slid open when he suggested that their first stop be the barn. "What, you're not dying to ride the llamas?" She gently teased. The barn was definitely her first choice, too.


"Yeah, let's go check out our looove shack!" With that, she playfully tugged him in that direction, feeling light and free with her city life's worries lifted from her heart. As they approached, a huge grin tugged across her features. The barn was old, but still in great condition. Whomever constructed it had done an immaculate job...


"Oh my God, Laz.. there's a loft!!" Because she always loved those scenes in movies where young couples sneaked off into the loft to have privacy... it was just so romantic. The ladder seemed stable so she climbed up the first 'step' casting a glance over her shoulder to see if Laz was following..

Laz went with her, her eagerness and happiness infecting him. It was good. Comforting. Away from the city, out here in the fresh air, well other then llama poop but he could deal with that. There was no worries out here or so it seemed.

He walked inside the barn and looked around. It was nice. There was no indication it had ever been used. No tools laying around, no animal feed, or car parts, nothing. It was actually clean other then a few small spider webs.

In the corner was a small bed. no frame, but everything else. No pillows or blankets either, Laz was sure Eze had some in the cabin though.

Then Lexi turned his attention to the loft. He chuckled and followed after her.

I'm not sure if this reminds me more of a romantic movie...or a horror movie. group of friends, go into a friends cabin that no one has heard of in the woods. You know the couple that have sex are always the first to die. You willing to take that risk?

Pfft not really. Been having the place but never a need to come here.

Ezekiel started to pick up things and sort things out, grabbing blankets and pillows for everyone. Mama was already snooping around looking for the perfect bedroom, Bella hopped off Gabe and went to the couch with her new favorite puppy.

I have to tell you guys something, it's pretty serious. But I want to wait till the...none dragons are asleep. that goes for the ex foot too.

Mikko flexed and grinned. Yeah I'm pretty bad ass. Yer right though, boy is seriously crazy. So what room you want, love?

She put Gabe's bag over her shoulder then listened to Eze talk about something important that she wasn't to be included in.

Ooooooh secret Dragon business uh? You do remember that Laz and I were responsible for keeping you all alive, right? We're just as much, or was just as much a part of your group as the any other.

Finally making it up to the to and stepping onto the platform of the loft, Lexi knelt and held down a hand to Laz, offering to help him up. Hearing his comical response earned a quiet chuckle. "Awww, I'll protect you from Mr. Voorhees... and anything else that goes 'bump' in the night.." She playfully teased. Once he joined her, she turned to have a look around...


"But I'm definitely willing to take that chance with you... if you ain't scuuurd." She couldn't help but rib.


Like the rest of the barn, the loft had been well maintained. Only a few bails of hay to occupy the desirable space; no doubt just field cuttings stored away by the former tenant for later use. In the far corner there was another mattress, also void of any additions such as sheets, blankets or pillows. Off to the right sat an old milk crate that had been used as a night stand. A few candles rested atop the small structure. Another milk crate near the opposite side of the bed with the same set up, and a kerosene lantern. Situated just in front of it was a kerosene heater. It seemed that the loft had also doubled as a room. Probably by squatters who had long vacated the property when their lives became a little more tolerable.


"Awww.. someone had the right idea..." She hummed with eager excitement, shifting to wrap her arms around his neck and pressed a kiss against his lips...


"I think we'll be nice and cozy up here..."

"Yeah, you are badass.." Gabe winked and pulled her down for a kiss. "Any room downstairs.. I ain't picky.." Normally he would have went for the attic for added privacy, but getting a wheelchair up and down the steps just wasn't going to happen, so he would leave any room arrangements up to Mikko.


Hearing Eze inform them that he had a serious discussion pending, Gabe frowned deeply. This was probably the reason they were all here; not because of whatever 'virus' was plaguing the city. Mikko piped up and reminded Eze that she and Laz were part of the team, and Gabe nodded in agreement.


"She's got a point, Zeke. An'.. I have a strong feeling that whatever this is may include them also.. so may as well include them." He tried to reason with his brother. "You also need to take into consideration that 'ex Foot' are involved with us.. on...an...intimate level." Yeeeah. A reminder that his bro wouldn't care to hear, but it was factual so should be strongly considered. "Can't keep 'em in the dark forever."

I'm a little scarred. But I think I know what will comfort me in the darkness!

Laz kissed Lexi then buried his face in her chest.

Mmmmmm now I'm nice and safe in my happy place.
